Westchester Warriors Youth Hockey League to Hold Charity Tournament on Behalf of Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital
9-13 year-olds face off at April 20th Hockey Tournament to raise funds for Pediatric Cancer Care at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital
WHEN: Saturday, April 20, 2019, 2:30 p.m.
WHERE: E.J. Murray Skating Center, 348 Tuckahoe Rd, Yonkers, NY
WHAT: More than 300 youth hockey players, volunteers, coaches, managers and their families will gather for the 4th Annual Westchester Warriors Tournament for Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. Six teams will compete to raise money for pediatric cancer research at the hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network. This is the fourth year that the Westchester Warriors have raised money for MFCH. Under the guidance of co-founders Luis Panchame, Denis Dufresne and Ron Vitale, the Warriors proudly advocate hockey as a conduit for community enrichment, including aiding children courageously seeking to overcome health obstacles. This exciting event will feature a DJ, games and fun.
WHO: Former MFCH patient and cancer survivor Andrew Stephens will drop the puck along with Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, and members of the Warriors team.
WHY: The event raises funds for the pediatric oncology program at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. To date the Warriors have raised over $250,000 to fund a new consolidated entrance at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital named Westchester Warriors Way that leads to the cancer, blood-disorder and bone-marrow transplant center for young oncology patients.
Moving forward donations will be earmarked for the Cellular and Tissue Engineering Laboratory (CTEL) within the Children and Adolescent Cancer and Blood Disease Center at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. CTEL creates and provides patient-specific life-saving therapies for pediatric oncology patients.
