Westchester Warriors’ gift and partnership as a “game changer” for MFCH

Westchester Warriors Maria Fareri Children's Hospital

ABOUT_
Welcome to the 2020 Spring/Summer season for our Westchester Warriors Spring Hockey Program.

We are excited to announce that this year we have expanded to seven teams, covering the 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007,2008, 2009, 2010 birth years.  Our mantra is “What’s in Me for You”, which causes all of us to look within ourselves to see how we can make a difference for others.  This year, our chosen charity is the Pediatric Oncology Group at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a fantastic local cause. Regarding coached, we are also pleased to confirm that, as in years past, all coaches will be providing their time, energy and commitment free of charge. The only costs that you will pay are (i) your portion of your team’s entry fee into tournaments (and attending the tournaments) and (ii) a fee ($20-$30) for participation in clinics run by our coaches (clinic costs are purely to pay for the ice . . . the coaches volunteer their time).-

Tourneys:  Each team will play at least 4 tournaments, some local and some away.  Each team will set its own schedule, but tournament play will start in April for all teams;-

The Commitment From You:  Each family (player and parents) will sign an acknowledgement letter that covers a few key points, including:You will acknowledge that you understand that focus of the Westchester Warriors, which is to teach our children that hockey is a conduit to great things (including providing for those less fortunate or challenged) through service to and for others; You will acknowledge that your family will volunteer to stand at a table in the lobby at one or more tournaments to answer questions about who the Westchester Warriors are, and why we do what we do.  Not only do we think that this will help us generate significant contributions from tourney attendees, but of equal importance we believe that this is a tremendously powerful learning tool for your children, as they interact with others and see you, their parents, interact with others, explaining this great Program and this great cause; andYou will agree to have your child send an email blast to family and friends asking for donations to support our chosen charity, with a minimum raise of $500 per player.  While most players will raise much more than the $500 minimum, the parents will agree to cover any amounts not raised by their child towards that child’s minimum.

Please let us know if you have a knack for photography.  We will be looking for parents on each team to get some great pictures of their teams, on the ice and off the ice, for inclusion on our new website that we will be launching prior to the beginning of tournament play.

We are excited to have you as part of our Westchester Warriors Program, and part of an experience that, through hockey, will teach our players valuable life lessons and allow them to appreciate how special they are in providing for others through their service for others.

Go Warriors!!!!!
